Many travel blogs have their authors taking a year {or more} off to travel around the world, whether as backpackers or enjoying more luxurious modes of transportation and accommodations. One day I’d love to have the same opportunity to travel when and where I want, especially to take an extended leave to take a Round the World trip. In the meantime, however, I’m just like many of you with responsibilities that keep me rooted in one place for the time being. That, however, does not have to stop us from exploring the world while we wait for that “someday” that we can make full-time travel our way of life! Oh no, it certainly does not. Whether it’s a week in another country, a weekend getaway to another city, or even a day trip to a nearby town- that’s what this blog is all about…Exploring the World, One Trip at a Time.

Even if it isn’t the right time to pack up and leave for months on end that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t still take every opportunity to see as much of the world as possible. Several years ago that’s exactly the decision I made and I’d encourage everyone that has a desire to travel to make that very same decision. Once you do I think you’ll be surprised at the doors that will open to allow you to visit lots of new countries and cities, even on a limited budget. I know I have been. 12 countries as of this writing (July 2014) with more on the horizon. If you’d asked me 10 years ago I would have never guessed I’d have seen that many countries at this point in my life. So make the decision whether you want to have a life that includes travel or not. Make travel your goal. Make travel your priority. It can happen.

While this blog originally started as a journal of sorts to help me remember my trips I’ve also been thinking about what I could share with others who are in a similar stage of life with similar goals as me. With this blog it is now also my goal to hopefully inspire you and show you how you can make the most of the opportunities that come up for you – like I have with overseas business trips and even a trip that I won! I’d also like to help you find ways to make it happen for yourself by sharing with you how I plan and budget for trips to get what I consider is the best value for my time and money. I’ll also share with you the ways I have learned to make the most of weekend road trips and taking in the sights in my hometown just like a tourist would, in between those very much anticipated {and never quite frequent enough} trips overseas.

So let’s get out there and start dreaming, and then planning, our next great trip!
